About The Position

Responsible for maintaining a safe, sanitary, and welcoming medical clinic environment through routine cleaning, sanitization, light maintenance, waste management, and basic groundskeeping as needed. Supports patient safety and clinic operations by ensuring clinic facilities remain clean, functional, and compliant with OSHA, infection control, and clinic sanitation standards.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of commercial cleaning procedures, chemicals, equipment, and safe handling practices.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards, infection control procedures, bloodborne pathogen safety, and PPE usage.
  • Knowledge of proper waste disposal procedures, including biohazard materials when applicable.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
  • Skill in time management, organization, and prioritization of tasks.
  • Basic maintenance and repair skills.
  • Skill in operating janitorial and cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in a healthcare environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and staff.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work evening, night, or early morning shifts as required.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
  • Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 25–50 pounds.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.
  • Occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals, communicable diseases, and biohazardous materials with appropriate PPE and training.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Previous janitorial, housekeeping, or maintenance experience preferred.
  • Experience in a medical, clinical, or healthcare environment preferred.
  • Certification or training related to infection control, bloodborne pathogens, or hazardous waste handling preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors throughout the clinic facility.
  • Dust and wipe down surfaces including desks, counters, chairs, windows, mirrors, walls, glass, and frequently touched surfaces.
  • Disinfect exam rooms, patient areas, waiting rooms, restrooms, offices, and high-touch areas in accordance with clinic infection control protocols.
  • Deep clean and sanitize restrooms; restock soap, toilet paper, paper towels, and other restroom supplies.
  • Empty trash and recycling receptacles, replace liners, and transport waste to designated disposal areas following clinic and biohazard disposal procedures.
  • Perform routine daily cleaning tasks and scheduled monthly or quarterly deep-cleaning duties including carpet cleaning, vents, baseboards, and high-reach areas.
  • Monitor and restock facility supplies including paper products, hand soap, and cleaning materials.
  • Operate and maintain janitorial equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers, and other cleaning equipment; report equipment malfunctions promptly.
  • Perform light maintenance tasks such as changing lightbulbs, replacing HVAC filters, unclogging toilets, and other minor repairs as assigned.
  • Report hazards, maintenance concerns, safety issues, and larger repair needs to the Facilities Manager immediately.
  • Secure the facility after cleaning tasks are complete by locking doors and securing entrances and windows.
  • Assist with seasonal or exterior maintenance duties including sweeping walkways, removing debris, and shoveling snow or ice when necessary.
  • Follow OSHA standards, infection control procedures, PPE requirements, and all company safety policies.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA guidelines while working in clinical environments.
  • Promote a professional image by adhering to the established dress code as listed in Employee Handbook.
  • Check and resolve assigned tasks in EMR program.
