About The Position

The purpose of this position is to perform daily janitorial services and provide general maintenance at assigned facilities. This role is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of various buildings and grounds, as well as assisting with repairs and inventory management. The Janitor will also support seasonal projects and safety checks, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all.

Requirements

Ability to speak and write the English language at a high and professional level.
High degree of confidentiality.
Able to endorse and promote The Salvation Army’s mission.
Computer literate, in Windows environment (Microsoft Office), Word, Excel and Outlook preferred.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Excellent and professional telephone etiquette and presence.
Excellent organizational skills.
Strong ability to utilize a high level of time management and handling multiple tasks.
High school diploma.
Must possess ServSafe Food Handler certification.
Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle.
Must be 21 years or older.
Authorize The Salvation Army to add name to the CA DMV Pull Notice Program.
Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.
Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check to include a DOJ Livescan Fingerprint check.

Nice To Haves

Minimum one (1) year of building maintenance and/or janitorial service preferred.
Computer literate, in Windows environment (Microsoft Office), Word, Excel and Outlook preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintain cleanliness of the family services and corps buildings including offices, restrooms, classrooms, chapel, kitchen and food pantry.
Maintain cleanliness and maintenance of the vehicle fleet.
Maintain cleanliness of parking lot, lawns and walkways.
Conduct minor facility and equipment repairs.
Maintain inventory of janitorial supplies and maintenance equipment.
Setup and prepare rooms for program usage.
Transport food donations and equipment/supplies as assigned.
Assist with monthly and quarterly safety checks.
Assist with seasonal projects including food drives, toy drives, and Red Kettles.
Other duties as assigned.
