About The Position

M.C. Dean is hiring a Janitor for its Headquarters office in Tysons, Virginia. The Janitor keeps the office clean and orderly by performing heavy cleaning duties, including cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish. The role also focuses on restroom cleanliness and supplies. The position requires physical work, including moving furniture and supplies, using ladders, and working at heights. The employee must follow proper lifting techniques and safety protocols, recognize when building systems need major repairs, and request supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.

Requirements

High school diploma.
At least 2 years of janitorial experience.
Must successfully pass a background check.
Ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Ability to relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
Ability to work at heights up to 60 feet and climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and ladders.
Ability to walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
Good vision (corrected vision acceptable), ability to see color, and ability to hear and communicate in English.
Ability to use a standard ladder without exceeding its weight limit while carrying tools.
Ability to recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong.
Ability to apply general rules to specific problems and combine information to form conclusions.
Ability to see details at close range and understand spoken information.

Responsibilities

Keep the Headquarters office clean and orderly.
Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum building floors.
Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors; shampoo rugs.
Clean, sanitize, and supply restrooms.
Gather and empty trash and remove rubbish.
Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors; wash walls.
Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
Mix water and detergents to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.
Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies.
Notify managers of the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
