About The Position
The janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment in buildings such as offices, schools, hospitals, or commercial facilities. This role ensures all areas are sanitized, presentable, and functional.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (sometimes optional)
- Previous cleaning or janitorial experience preferred
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment (vacuums, buffers, etc.)
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety practices
- Physical stamina (standing, lifting, bending)
- Attention to detail and reliability
- Good time management skills
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors
- Empty trash bins and dispose of waste properly
- Refill supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.)
- Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces
- Dust furniture, fixtures, and equipment
- Perform minor maintenance tasks (e.g., replacing light bulbs, fixing leaks if trained)
- Report repairs or safety hazards to management
- Follow cleaning schedules and safety procedures
- Use cleaning equipment and chemicals safely
