About The Position
JM Murray holds a contract partnership with New York State Industries for the Disabled (NYSID) and is looking for a dependable, self-starter to add to their janitorial team in Whitney Point. This is a part-time position, up to 15 hours per week, working the 2nd shift (3pm-11pm) with a rotating schedule. The company offers people with disabilities the opportunity to obtain legitimate employment in a real-world work environment while learning valuable skills, improving self-esteem, and enriching lives. The team is responsible for maintaining restrooms, common areas, and grounds, including light grounds keeping and snow removal, to ensure a clean and safe environment for staff and guests. The ideal candidate is experienced, detail-oriented, and will collaborate with their supervisor and peers to complete daily tasks inside and outside, adhering to all guidelines and regulations.
Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- HS Diploma or GED preferred.
- Basic reading and comprehension skills.
- Ability to follow written instructions.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Attention to detail with the ability to problem solve and prioritize individual work loads.
- Ability to work both as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions (hot/cold/rain/snow).
- Ability to interact with the general public in a positive manner.
Nice To Haves
- Prior commercial cleaning experience preferred, willing to train the right individual.
- 1 year experience in a production environment preferred.
Responsibilities
- Completes daily cleaning of assigned work sites per cleaning specifications.
- Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
- Performs all hours onsite and at all assigned physical locations of operations.
- Follows all safety rules and regulations; wears and/or uses required protective equipment.
- Immediately reports any safety concerns or unsafe working conditions.
- Conducts all aspects of job responsibilities in compliance with JM Murray policies and procedures, professional standards, and applicable governmental laws, regulations, rules and standards.
- Cleans and sanitizes assigned areas including restrooms, eating areas, and common work spaces.
- Completes tasks including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and sweeping of general office space, lobbies, waiting areas, and common areas.
- Cleans windows and entrance doors.
- Operates equipment including shop vac, auto floor scrubber (with training), broom, and dust pan.
- Operates seasonal equipment including leaf blower, push lawn mower, shovel, weed eater, push behind snow blower, and tractor with snow brushes (with training).
- Uses cleaning chemicals and completes cleaning/sanitizing according to Company standards and procedures.
- Performs physical inventories, audits, and reconciles all stock of materials.
- Maintains a stocked and clutter-free storage area.
- Maintains confidentiality and discretion of assigned accounts and work spaces.
- Removes trash and recyclable materials to the proper location in a timely manner.
- Represents JM Murray in a positive manner, treating people with dignity and respect.
- Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
