About The Position

This position is located at the Marines Technology Center at 2306 E. Bannister Rd. Kansas City, MO 64131. This position is under the AbilityOne program and requires documents pertaining to disability collected in order to be eligible for the job. This position pays $16.95/hour, some health and dental reimbursement included for employee. The Custodian has the primary responsibility for cleaning the site in such a way to promote health and safety while reducing the spread of infection. It is the role of the custodian to follow daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules by site. Additional duties may include general building and ground maintenance, snow removal, laundry, etc. Must be able to pass a federal background check for specified contracts.

Requirements

High school diploma/certificate generally required.
Must pass body mechanics training prior to hire.
Must be able to lift and move up to 40 lbs.
Ability to follow verbal and/or visual instructions.
Ability to effectively communicate with supervisors and co-workers.
Good manual dexterity.
Attention to detail, initiative, reliability and stress tolerance.
Must pass a federal background check for specified contracts.

Nice To Haves

Training in the custodial field is preferred.
Experience in the custodial field is desirable.
Knowledge of proper cleaning methods is preferred.

Responsibilities

Follows and completes the site’s daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedule.
Collects and bags all garbage from the site, placing the tied bags in a closed dumpster.
Washes and sanitizes bathrooms fixtures daily with germicidal solution.
Using germicidal solution, wet mops all washable floors including kitchen, bathroom, office and classroom.
Washes windows (inside and outside) and walls using germicidal solution as scheduled or needed.
Vacuums all carpeting.
Sweeps and clears entrance spaces.
Dusts, washes and sanitizes other surfaces as specified in schedule.
Performs other cleaning duties as specified in schedule.
Be able to use burnisher, buffer, carpet extractor or other floor finishing equipment as designated.
Refills paper towel, tissue, toilet paper and hand soap in all dispensers.
Reports the presence of animals, vermin or insects to the designated staff person.
Reports the need for cleaning supplies or equipment repair in advance to the designated staff person.
Reports water leaks, and other maintenance needs to the designated staff person.
Reports all other health and safety hazards noticed to the designated staff person.
Participates in emergency drills and environmental safety activities, as requested.
Attends and participates in site in-service trainings.
Must adhere to biohazard cleaning protocol.
Requires punctual and regular attendance. Time away from work is approved and taken in accordance with established policies.
Performs all duties in a manner that promotes teamwork and reflects the mission and core values.
Performs other duties as assigned.
