About The Position

The Janitor supports daily custodial services for the INSCOM contract at Fort Belvoir across approximately 635,000 square feet in four buildings, including controlled-access and classified environments in accordance with contract requirements. Primary work hours are generally aligned to day shift support (7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) with flexibility to support evening work windows, periodic project work, and occasional weekend tasks as operationally required. The Janitor performs recurring and project cleaning services to maintain clean, sanitary, safe, and mission-ready facilities; follows building-specific schedules and frequencies; supports customer service and security expectations; and must obtain and maintain all required site access credentials and an active TS/SCI security clearance. The role operates within ServiceSource’s standardized FY27 Custodial Operating Plan, including alignment to the QC SOP, Training SOP, hands-on competency validation model, and applicable ISSA/CMI, BSCAI, and CIMS-GB-informed operational practices.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance required; ability to meet all applicable access, badging, SCIF, OPSEC, and NISPOM-related requirements.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow schedules, labels, SDS/MSDS information, operating instructions, and customer/site procedures.
  • Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products, tools, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of the use of Safety Data Sheets (SDS/MSDS) and approved chemical handling and storage practices.
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions, frequencies, and room/building assignments with limited supervision.
  • Strong commitment to quality, safety, customer service, and accountability.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and escalate issues in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in occupied and security-sensitive environments.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) preferred.
  • At least six (6) months to one (1) year of janitorial, custodial, housekeeping, or facilities support experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting federal, military, secure, or high-accountability facilities is preferred.
  • Baseline certification requirement per the FY27 Custodial Operating Plan Educational Pathway: ISSA/CMI Certified Cleaning Technician (CCT) – Basic.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine custodial services in accordance with contract schedules, building assignments, and required task frequencies for offices, conference rooms, classrooms, corridors, entrances, common areas, and other assigned spaces.
  • Empty trash and recycling containers; replace liners as needed; remove debris; and transport collected waste to designated disposal locations in accordance with site procedures.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, shower areas, and other hygiene spaces; replenish toilet tissue, paper towels, soap, and other consumables; and report damaged or empty dispensers.
  • Perform floor care support tasks including sweeping, dust mopping, damp mopping, vacuuming, spot cleaning, walk-off mat cleaning, and stairwell maintenance.
  • Provide cleaning and servicing for break rooms, kitchenettes, coffee messes, concession areas, and drinking fountains, including cleaning and sanitizing surfaces and restocking supplies.
  • Perform low-area and interior glass cleaning in accordance with contract requirements and customer expectations while protecting sensitive papers, equipment, and personal items from disturbance.
  • Maintain janitor closets, carts, tools, and supplies in a clean, orderly, secure condition and follow approved chemical handling and labeling requirements.
  • Complete task training using visual aids, equipment guides, and chemical charts, and successfully demonstrate role-critical tasks through supervisory observation and checklist sign-off.
  • Perform work in accordance with the ServiceSource QC SOP and related cleaning observation standards, and participate in refresher training when triggered by performance gaps, repeat deficiencies, new equipment/chemicals, or audit findings.
  • Adhere to assigned schedules, routes, and priorities to ensure timely and effective completion of work in occupied and controlled environments.
  • Follow all access, escort, badge, OPSEC, and classified environment rules while working in or near SCIF and non-SCIF spaces.
  • Promptly report completed work, deficiencies, safety hazards, spills, damaged dispensers/fixtures, equipment issues, supply shortages, or access challenges to the Supervisor.
  • Support periodic, annual, or surge cleaning requirements, including project work during evening or weekend windows when scheduled.
  • Provide courteous, professional customer service and maintain a low-disruption presence in mission-sensitive spaces.
  • Participate in the standardized onboarding process, including review of corporate, operational, and site-specific custodial policies, procedures, and SOPs through an Intake Binder and position-specific onboarding schedule.
  • Support zero-fail adoption expectations for required training, QC processes, safety procedures, and other controlled operational documents applicable to the position.
  • Comply with corporate, operational, and site-specific custodial policies, procedures, and SOPs, including BBP, CleanCheck/CompuClean systems and standards, the QC Plan, QC SOP training, and applicable safety procedures.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
