About The Position

The Janitor, Retail maintains a clean, safe, and welcoming Goodwill of Colorado retail store or outlet, meeting or exceeding the organization’s standards for hygiene and presentation. The role performs assigned janitorial duties and provides courteous customer service. Part-time positions are available; applicants are asked to provide their availability.

Requirements

• Ability to read and understand directions for using and properly disposing of cleaning solutions.
• Ability to follow Goodwill and OSHA safety protocols for chemical use and waste disposal.
• Ability to stay on track and complete duties in a timely manner.
• Ability to withstand prolonged standing, bending, and lifting for up to eight hours per day.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of previous custodial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect restrooms, employee break areas, and public areas.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning materials.
• Sweep and mop floors to remove slip, trip, and fall hazards.
• As needed, vacuum and steam-clean carpets and rugs, dust furniture, polish fixtures, and remove marks or stains from walls and other surfaces.
• Clean and dust store fixtures as required.
• As needed, perform floor maintenance, including applying wax or sealant, buffing, stripping, and top-scrubbing floors.
• Remove trash from offices, restrooms, and other areas in and around the assigned store.
• Follow Goodwill and OSHA safety protocols for chemical use and waste disposal, including mixing cleaning agents when required.
• Move heavy furniture when necessary to clean surrounding areas.
• As needed, shovel snow or ice from sidewalks and apply salt to help prevent slip, trip, and fall hazards.
• Collaborate with the team and direct customers to the appropriate department or team member when needed.
• Report missing or damaged items and maintenance needs promptly.
• Follow Goodwill policies, procedures, and the employee handbook.
• Help maintain a safe working environment for employees and customers.
• Escalate issues or concerns to the store management team in a timely manner.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required.
• Work a varied schedule that may include weekends, evenings, holidays, and occasional overtime.
