About The Position

The Janitor Exterior is responsible for the cleaning of assigned areas to include bathrooms, floors, grounds, and maintenance of equipment used for cleaning service in and around the galley. This role involves cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, maintaining the cleanliness of the back dock area, handling bodily fluid spills, snow removal, and operating cleaning equipment. The position requires the ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and withstand prolonged periods in hot or cold environments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience in a commercial janitorial setting is preferred.
  • Sanitation license is preferred.
  • Operate various pieces of equipment in the performance of job duties.
  • Ability to work independently and complete duties in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with co-workers and customers.
  • Ability to work for a prolonged period of time in hot or cold environments.
  • Able to clean and sanitize area in response to BBP needs.
  • Lift and carry 60 pounds up to 10 feet.
  • Independently push a cart with a 40-pound load up to 100 feet.
  • Full range of motion and ability to maneuver in small spaces.
  • Repetitive use of hands and frequent standing and walking for long periods.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including walls, mirrors, toilets, urinals, and floors. Replenish supplies and empty garbage containers.
  • Set up cleaning cart with necessary supplies and equipment for restroom cleaning.
  • Empty garbage cans and remove cardboard boxes from the kitchen area, transporting them to outside dumpsters and trash compactors.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the back dock area by sweeping and mopping. Mop hallways.
  • Clean and sanitize areas after bodily fluid spills following established standards for handling bloodborne pathogen spills.
  • Perform snow removal and operate snow removal equipment.
  • Follow proper sanitation and established safety procedures, wearing personal protective equipment as required.
  • Report all defective equipment to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Follow safety procedures and report safety hazards to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Operate a pallet jack.
  • Clean floors and hallways with a motorized floor machine.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
