2nd Shift Janitor/Custodian
About The Position
The Janitor/Custodian maintains a clean and orderly environment at the facility at 13520 Mercury Drive in Laredo, Texas. This is a part-time position in Facilities Maintenance reporting to the Site Manager. The schedule is Tuesday through Friday, 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; overtime may be needed. The custodian cleans and sanitizes restrooms, driver showers, offices, the guard shack, tech shop, employee breakroom, and facility floors. Duties also include managing trash and recycling, cleaning surfaces and high-touch areas, restocking supplies, receiving and stocking facility supplies, yard cleanup, assisting with event setup and cleanup, and reporting maintenance issues and safety hazards. The role works in a warehouse/cross-dock environment around dock traffic and equipment and requires compliance with applicable PPE and safety requirements.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in cleaning, maintenance, or a related field.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented.
- Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Basic computer skills and ability to operate and utilize current diagnostic tools.
- Solid work history and quality craftsmanship.
- Ability to handle a physical workload.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for the duration of the shift.
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Able to operate cleaning equipment and use cleaning chemicals safely.
- Comfortable working safely in a warehouse/cross-dock environment around dock traffic and equipment.
Nice To Haves
- Prior custodial or janitorial experience is preferred but not required.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize restrooms and driver showers; restock soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
- Clean and maintain offices, the guard shack, the tech shop, and the employee breakroom.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors throughout the facility.
- Empty trash and recycling receptacles and replace liners.
- Dust and wipe down desks, counters, and other surfaces; clean windows, glass doors, and mirrors.
- Sanitize high-touch points such as door handles, light switches, and railings.
- Clean and maintain breakroom appliances.
- Restock breakroom consumables, including paper plates, cups, utensils, and napkins.
- Receive and stock facility supplies.
- Monitor janitorial supply levels and notify the Maintenance Supervisor when supplies are low.
- Perform yard cleanup as directed, including picking up broken seals, trash, and debris.
- Assist with event and meeting setup, including setting up tables and chairs and handling breakdown and cleanup.
- Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, and needed repairs to the supervisor.
- Follow applicable PPE requirements and maintain safety certifications and standards required by management.
