About The Position

IPT Associates (IPTA) is seeking a J2EE Developer to join their Legacy Modernization team. This role involves bridging the gap between legacy system codebases and the Palantir Foundry migration team. The developer will analyze and document existing application and data-integration logic, reverse-engineer business rules, and support static analysis of legacy ETL jobs. This position requires acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) liaison to translate legacy transformation logic for Foundry pipeline engineers, documenting application dependencies, and supporting reconciliation testing. The role is remote and requires an active Secret security clearance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (equivalent experience may be considered)
  • 4+ years of professional Java/J2EE (Java EE) development experience
  • Java/J2EE (Java EE) expertise: MVC Model 2 design patterns, DAOs, Servlets, JSP, EJB (session and message-driven beans), JDBC, JNDI, and JMS
  • Oracle application and database logic development using PL/SQL (ideally Oracle Application Server and Oracle Database 19c)
  • Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Data Integration, including Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, ELT/ETL concepts, Oracle Data Transforms, and E-LT architectures
  • Comfortable reverse-engineering undocumented legacy enterprise code with no SME available to explain it
  • Working knowledge of ETL/batch processing concepts, such as daily/weekly sync jobs and materialized-view refresh patterns
  • Create, modify, and test the code, forms, and script that allow computer applications to run. Work from specifications drawn up by software developers or other individuals
  • Possesses and applies expertise on multiple complex work assignments. Assignments may be broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks
  • Operates with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems
  • Contributes to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable
  • An active Secret security clearance is required (role supports NIPRNet/SIPRNet work)

Nice To Haves

  • Prior exposure to Army force management or personnel systems (e.g., GFM DI, IPPS-A, TAADS); the domain-specific business rules are dense, and prior context shortens ramp-up considerably
  • Experience on legacy-to-modern migration or decommission efforts, not just steady-state J2EE development
  • Ability to collaborate closely with a Palantir Foundry team, communicating legacy logic in terms a Foundry engineer can act on (Foundry coding not required)
  • Basic scripting (Python/shell) to build validation or bridge tooling between the two systems
  • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570/8140 baseline certification

Responsibilities

  • Bridges the legacy system codebase and the Palantir Foundry migration team, reading, analyzing, and documenting existing application and data-integration logic so it can be mapped into the target data integration architecture's ETL pipelines
  • Reverse-engineers and documents business rules embedded in the legacy application and data layers
  • Supports static analysis of legacy ETL jobs
  • Acts as SME liaison to the Foundry pipeline engineers, translating legacy transformation logic into terms they can re-implement correctly
  • Documents application dependencies, including the database schema, integrations, and the NIPRNet/SIPRNet Data Guard replication path, to inform the eventual cutover and decommission plan
  • Supports reconciliation testing by explaining why legacy output looks the way it does when it does not match the new Army Vantage (Foundry) output
