About The Position

The WTR Process Engineering team is dedicated to fully managing, maintaining, supporting, and enhancing operations at SAS. The Industrial Wastewater Treatment (IWT) Process Engineer will be accountable for ensuring the safety of the work environment for the team and all stakeholders. This role includes monitoring system performance, conducting trend analyses, and preparing reports related to sustaining operations, maintenance, and process/equipment improvements. Additionally, the engineer will prepare work packages for upgrades and maintenance of the IWT systems and assist with comprehensive troubleshooting of IWT plant issues, encompassing both mechanical and process breakdowns. Furthermore, the engineer will evaluate process requirements and specifications for all WTR systems.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in related Engineering field.
A minimum of four years of experience in a relevant field is required.
Working knowledge of water/wastewater operations such as biological nutrient removal, ultrafiltration, dewatering, clarification, ion exchange, reverse osmosis, thermal evaporation.

Responsibilities

Collaborate and support our operators, technicians, and the business by working closely with the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) team and our customers to develop, drive, and execute process improvements.
Execute complete ownership and accountability of assigned transfer and/or treatment system scope and projects, including the commissioning and start-up phases.
Review, refine, and execute system commissioning and startup plans, demonstrating expertise in mechanical, electrical, and controls systems.
Monitor daily trends, perform equipment inspections, and coordinate with Operations and Maintenance teams on work orders, process improvement projects, and commissioning and start-up activities.
Proactively troubleshoot critical IWT system issues, especially those related to site drain quality, during both routine operations and commissioning phases.
Support instrumentation, maintenance, and operations groups in day-to-day tasks and commissioning activities.
Interface effectively and confidently with internal customers, including during commissioning and startup meetings, to manage expectations and gather feedback.
Coach and mentor less experienced engineers to share your knowledge, experience, and skills, including commissioning best practices.
