About The Position

PharMerica is hiring a full-time Pharmacy IV Technician in Huntington, West Virginia, to work in a closed-door, non-retail pharmacy serving long-term care and senior living clients, as well as Alere high-risk pregnancy patients. The role involves sterile compounding, prescription preparation, quality assurance, equipment and inventory support, and communication with pharmacists, nursing homes, and clients. The technician works in a Class 100 cleanroom and must follow USP 797 and state regulatory standards.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. PharMerica describes a supportive team environment with opportunities to work independently, receive ongoing training, grow professionally, and advance within the company. Pharmacy Technician license fees are covered for eligible new hires and current staff.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Pharmacy Technician license as required by the state.
• 6 months to 1 year of IV Pharmacy Technician experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to operate a computer and recognize and identify medications.
• Detail-oriented and goal-oriented, with the ability to work as a team player and communicate effectively orally.

Responsibilities

• Clean, maintain, and monitor the Sterile Compounding Room in accordance with USP 797 and state regulatory standards.
• Compound sterile preparations, including preparations made from non-sterile powders, in a Class 100 cleanroom environment.
• Prepare and fill prescriptions for long-term care residents and Alere high-risk pregnancy patients according to established policies and quality standards.
• Support quality assurance processes and ensure compliance with compounding and documentation requirements.
• Assist pharmacists with data entry, refill coordination, and communication with nursing homes and Alere clients.
• Stage, prepare, and fill medication orders accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain and clean infusion pumps and other sterile compounding equipment, ensuring proper calibration and safety.
• Replenish and maintain Emergency Drug Kits for long-term care facilities.
• Ship and track Alere packages through third-party overnight logistics providers.
• Support inventory management, filing, phone answering, and stocking in the IV department.
• Collaborate with the Lead IV Technician and Pharmacy Supervisor to maintain a safe, compliant, and organized work environment.
• Promptly report operational or compliance concerns related to USP 797 standards.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Pharmacist, IV Supervisor, or Director of Pharmacy.
