About The Position

This role involves both IV Technician and Medical Assistant duties. As an IV Technician, you will prepare and compound sterile intravenous (IV) medications, solutions, and admixtures, ensuring compliance with sterile compounding standards and infection control protocols. You will also be responsible for accurate medication calculation, mixing, labeling, documentation, and maintaining the cleanroom environment. As a Medical Assistant, you will prepare patients for examinations, take vital signs, assist healthcare providers, perform clinical tasks such as injections and venipuncture, maintain patient records in the EHR, educate patients, and manage administrative tasks. The position requires collaboration with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective patient care.

Requirements

  • 1 years verifiable experienced IV Technician and/or Medical Assistant required.
  • IV Technician and/or Medical Assistant certification and State registration/licensure as required by local regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to patient safety.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous sterile compounding or IV preparation experience desired.
  • Knowledge of Laboratory or Clinical regulations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and compound sterile intravenous (IV) medications, solutions, and admixtures in accordance with physician orders and established pharmacy procedures.
  • Maintain strict compliance with sterile compounding standards, infection control protocols, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Accurately calculate, measure, and mix medications for IV administration.
  • Label, package, and document compounded preparations to ensure patient safety and medication traceability.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment used in sterile compounding and IV preparation.
  • Monitor inventory levels of medications, supplies, and sterile compounding materials; assist with ordering and stocking as needed.
  • Perform quality assurance checks to verify accuracy, sterility, and proper storage of compounded products.
  • Assist patients with medication preparation, distribution, and related pharmacy operations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant cleanroom environment, including routine cleaning and environmental monitoring activities.
  • Review medication orders for completeness and report discrepancies to the supervisor.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of medications and hazardous materials.
  • Document all compounding activities and maintain accurate records in pharmacy management systems.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support safe and effective patient care.
  • Participate in training, competency assessments, and continuing education programs as required.

  • Welcome and room patients, obtaining and documenting vital signs, medical histories, medications, and chief complaints.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments while ensuring comfort and privacy.
  • Assist physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare providers during examinations and minor procedures.
  • Perform clinical tasks including injections, venipuncture, specimen collection, EKGs, wound care, and other duties within scope of practice.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Schedule appointments, coordinate referrals, and assist with patient follow-up communications.
  • Educate patients regarding treatment plans, medications, preventive care, and provider instructions.
  • Process prescription refill requests and communicate with pharmacies as directed by providers.
  • Collect, label, and prepare laboratory specimens for testing and transport.
  • Clean, sterilize, and maintain examination rooms, medical equipment, and supplies.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering and stocking medical supplies.
  • Verify insurance information and assist with basic administrative and front-office duties as needed.
  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain strict patient confidentiality.
  • Follow infection control, safety, and regulatory compliance standards at all times.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to provide high-quality patient care and ensure efficient clinic operations.
