About The Position

The IV Chemotherapy Technician, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, ensures patients receive the correct medication; packages and labels medication doses; fills routine orders for stock supplies to patient care areas; and assists in all aspects of IV admixture preparation and delivery. He/She complies with the standards, ethics, laws and regulations governing the practice of pharmacy, including the MS Board of Pharmacy and accreditation standards. Expectation is for all performed duties to be in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation organization, and governing guidance and publications for health care employees.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent required
• Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician by the Mississippi State Board of Pharmacy
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience preparing IVs as a pharmacy technician
• Proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook and Word
• Ability to demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment and apply appropriate professional skills to a patient population of all ages

Nice To Haves

• Graduate of a pharmacy technician training program preferred
• Certification as a Pharmacy Technician by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) OR the National Healthcare Association (NHA) is preferred
• NPTA (National Pharmacy Technician Association) Chemo Certification preferred
