Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or electrical engineering or related engineering field
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate. Candidates hired without their EIT will be titled "ITS Designer" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
  • Local candidates preferred
  • Computer skills using Microsoft Office, Synchro/Sim Traffic, HCS, AutoCAD and MicroStation

Responsibilities

  • Work on projects under the direction of the project manager and senior engineers, on ITS and traffic management system projects including Design, Planning, Engineering, Integration, Deployment, Operations and Maintenance, Communications and overall Contract and Project Management.
  • Develop plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) design packages for freeway, arterial and transit ITS systems, including fiber optic and wireless communication systems, power distributions systems, CCTV, DMS, vehicle detection systems, HAR, RWIS, traffic signal interconnect, transit signal priority, lightning control systems, and other ITS technologies and sub-systems, such as freeway open road tolling and managed lane technologies.
  • Develop System Engineering Analyses, ITS Architectures, Concept of Operations, ITS and TSM&O Master Plans, Traffic Management Center Standard Operational Procedures and Performance Measures Guidelines, ITS design plans, ITS equipment specifications, along with subsequent testing, operations and maintenance activities.
  • Develop, update and review design documents, technical specifications and other project related documentation.
  • Participate in Automated Connected Electric and Shared (ACES) vehicle, Electrified Mobility, and emerging technology projects
  • Perform other duties as needed
