ITS Technician
About The Position
Chinchor Electric, Inc. is a family-owned and operated company with 40 years in business, recognized as an Orlando Sentinel's Top Workplace in 2024 and 2025. We are a Commercial and Industrial Electrical contractor specializing in Heavy Industrial Electrical, Highway Lighting, and Traffic Signalization projects. We serve both corporate clients and government entities, maintaining yearly contracts with multiple counties and the Florida Department of Transportation. We have expanded to include locations in St. Augustine and Summerfield, serving the Jacksonville and Ocala areas respectively. We offer opportunities for career and educational advancement.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in ITS, traffic signal, roadway electrical, or a related field is required.
- Knowledge of electrical systems, low-voltage systems, communications equipment, and related tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment and system issues.
- Ability to read and follow construction plans, specifications, and electrical schematics.
- Ability to work safely in roadway and construction environments.
- Must be able to work outdoors, travel, and work nights, weekends, overtime, and out of town as needed.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
- DOT experience required
- Must be able to pass required drug and alcohol testing.
Nice To Haves
- Experience installing, maintaining, or troubleshooting ITS equipment is preferred.
- CDL Class A, IMSA, Maintenance of Traffic and Crane (rigging, signaling, operating) certifications are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) equipment.
- Install and service equipment including cameras, dynamic message signs, detection devices, communications equipment, and related electrical components.
- Perform testing and diagnostics to identify and resolve equipment or system issues.
- Read and follow project plans, specifications, schematics, and work orders.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and other required equipment.
- Follow FDOT, project, and company safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly care for company tools and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, crew members, and other project personnel.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
