About The Position

Instructs students in history, aesthetics, criticism, and production in the talent area of drama. Develops a curriculum appropriate to meeting the needs of each talented student as dictated by the individual education program. Completes accurately, neatly, and on time all records and reports. Encourages parent interest and is available for conferences to keep parents informed of student progress and needs. Acts as a resource to administrators, teachers, and parents for drama, music, or visual arts. Creates an aesthetic environment for students to develop their individual talents. Provides opportunities for students to demonstrate their talents to appropriate audiences. Fosters an understanding of the arts that goes beyond representation by encouraging students to use creative thought processes. Performs all other duties assigned by the principal.

Requirements

  • Valid Louisiana teaching certificate
  • Master's Degree
  • Ancillary certification in talent area of music, visual arts, or drama
  • Three years' successful teaching experience.
  • Must be able to communicate in English both orally and in writing.
  • Must have the ability to accurately give and receive information both in person and via a telecommunication system.
  • Must be able to communicate successfully and pleasantly with students, peers, supervisors, and the community.
  • Must be able to operate audio-visual and office equipment.
  • Must understand and interpret written and verbal instructions from supervisor.
  • Must be able to manage, direct, supervise, and evaluate student learning activities.
  • Must be able to work compatibly in group settings.
  • Must be able to respond positively to supervision and to accept suggestions for improvement.
  • Serves as liaison between the school and community.
  • Must be able to provide own transportation to schools, work locations, and meeting sites.
