About The Position

The Item Processing Specialist will be a key contributor to the Item Processing department, responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of clients' item processing. This role supports local community banks in delivering services and empowering them to thrive and positively impact their communities. The work schedule rotates weekly between 7am-4pm and 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday, and is located in Hutchinson, KS.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Intermediate data-entry proficiency.
  • Excellent attention to detail and visual error detection.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • High finger dexterity and good hand strength.
  • Strong attendance and reliability.
  • Comfortable using a computer and 10-key keypad.

Nice To Haves

  • General bank operations experience.
  • Introductory knowledge of financial data processing and balancing.
  • Familiarity with bank bookkeeping and item transaction processing.
  • Understanding of traditional and image-based bank processing.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and strong organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Process and balance NSF items.
  • Transmit electronic return files to the Federal Reserve Bank or other financial institutions.
  • Use imaging applications to create IRD items and manage statement printing workflows.
  • Provide timely responses and solutions to client inquiries and issues.
  • Balance grouped check and transaction items across various capture methods (Teller, ATM, Merchant, Mobile).
  • Perform MICR encoding, reject reentry, and duplicate item verification.
  • Ensure quality control and support continuous process improvement.
  • Provide backup support to various Item Processing and Balance Room functions.
  • Generate and process customer statements using the AFS system, sending print jobs to network printers, and matching Icore reports by bank to ensure accurate distribution.
  • Prepare and organize day and evening item processing and balancing reports for individual community banks.
