About The Position

This individual will be responsible for first tier technical support for Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital and its team members. The IT Technician will report to the IT Manager and is expected to maintain working knowledge of SMH’s network and software applications and adhere to best practices for customer service. This individual will also be a part of the department’s emergency after-hours on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Computer experience and knowledge required.
  • Must be able to work well with employees and outside vendors.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Heartsaver CPR Certified (obtain upon employment)

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot computer problems/concerns.
  • Work with SMH team members and IT staff to resolve user problems and requests in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Acts as first point of contact between SMH team members and the IT Department.
  • Enters work orders based on that contact.
  • Repairs IT Department hardware and software in a network environment.
  • Utilizes Spiceworks helpdesk database to receive work orders from hospital departments and track progress of work order completion.
  • Installs desktop computers and/or components.
  • Maintain knowledge of all computers and software installed at the desktop and their relationships to each other via the network.
  • Maintain desktop hardware/software to include preventive maintenance services, troubleshooting, hardware repair/upgrades, software installs/upgrades, and peripheral maintenance.
  • Maintains inventory and manages distribution of IT-related consumable supplies, repair parts and serviceable used equipment.
  • Maintain Asset Identification procedures including creation, modification and retirement of assets as well as proper disposal.
  • Maintains routine administration of PBX-based telephone and voicemail system including additions, changes and deletions of extensions.
  • Responsible for installation and troubleshooting of telephone related hardware and software.
  • Maintains routine administration of keyless access control system including additions, changes and deletions of keycards.
  • Maintains routine administration of network access accounts in an Active Directory environment including additions, changes and deletions of accounts and associated security policies.
  • Processes product returns including obtaining RMA from vendor, packaging, shipping and receiving.
  • Provides basic troubleshooting for clinical applications
  • Maintains current knowledge of all IT-related hardware, software, policies and procedures.
  • Maintains education and skills necessary to provide support for new technologies, hardware and software.
  • Participates in special projects as required by the IT Manager.
  • Part of the IT Department on-call rotation.
  • Demonstrate appropriateness in meeting objectives in age-specifics.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
