About The Position

The Support Technician position provides advanced technical support and exceptional service to County staff across multiple departments. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role ensures reliable system performance, resolves complex technical issues, and contributes to ongoing improvements in the County's technology environment. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who enjoys working collaboratively, communicates effectively, and takes pride in helping others make the most of their technology.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in IT support or systems administration, preferably in a multi-department environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with Windows and Linux operating systems, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Active Directory administration.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and delivering exceptional customer service.
  • A team-oriented mindset with the initiative to identify and implement process improvements.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with virtualization, network fundamentals, and email security systems is strongly desired.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft Certified Professional are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily technical support to County staff, ensuring reliable performance of systems, applications, and devices.
  • Support and maintain both Windows and Linux environments, including servers and desktops.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to hardware, software, and network operations.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of new services, features, and upgrades.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to helpdesk tickets, maintaining a strong focus on service quality.
  • Collaborate with fellow IT team members to maintain a secure, efficient, and user-friendly computing environment.
  • Work with third-party vendors to support and maintain specialized systems and infrastructure.
  • Monitor and manage email security systems, ensuring optimal performance and mail flow.
  • Administer user accounts and permissions within Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and local Active Directory.
  • Create and maintain clear, detailed technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
  • Deliver excellent customer service, demonstrating patience, professionalism, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
