About The Position

Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. This position is located in our Carson DMV Office within the Desktop Support Unit. Under limited supervision, the incumbent installs and repairs workstation hardware and software on a LAN, troubleshoots issues on-site and remotely, and consults with management to identify automation needs. They test hardware, evaluate software licensing, and recommend solutions. The role also supports Tier 3 Infrastructure/Networks with planning and installing network components, analyzing network performance, and ensuring data security and recovery. The incumbent resolves complex connectivity, application, and system issues across multiple locations and ensures secure, reliable access to external agencies, the Internet, and distributed applications. Additionally, they serve as the team lead for Desktop Support in Northern Nevada, overseeing logistics, solution development, staff training, hiring participation, reporting, and the accuracy of the asset management database. Under the authority of NRS 239B.010.1(b), the DMV utilizes NRS 205.4605 - 205.810, NRS 293.504, NRS 293.5045, 6 CFR 37.45, 49 CFR 1572.103, and 49 CFR 384.228 as criteria to obtain a FBI fingerprint clearance check on current and prospective employees.
