About The Position

We work with our customers through the design process, feasibility, fabrication, and delivery of custom parts. From the oceans’ depths to deep space, we shape great ideas into reality! POSITION SUMMARY General Plastics is seeking an IT Technician I to join our Information Technology team. This position will assist with internal customer support and is responsible for addressing helpdesk tickets on a large variety of programs and systems. It will include assisting other IT staff members with a variety of tasks ranging from network, wiring, server issues, and other tasks as assigned. This is an entry level position, and we are seeking candidates with similar experience or who have prepared themselves for this profession with education and certifications. The ideal candidate will have some understanding of networking and servers, and computer components, and they will have a focus on providing great customer service. In this role, they will need to have the ability to communicate well with end users and team members alike. This is not a remote position – you will be located onsite at our manufacturing plant in Tacoma.

Requirements

  • Strong Customer Service experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good documentation skills
  • High energy and positive work ethic
  • Strong Office 365 skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team effort
  • Ability to lift 50lbs, including carrying items upstairs to the IT office
  • Ability to work occasional overtime on projects
  • Comfortable with working in a manufacturing setting
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly master new, complex tasks
  • Two or more years of demonstrated IT experience or equivalent education (Associate’s degree)
  • CompTIA A+ certification or the demonstrated ability to get one within 90 days

Nice To Haves

  • Linux familiarity
  • Databases (SQL) familiarity
  • Perform scripting (ideally shell, bash, and PowerShell)
  • Networking, including managed L2/3 switches, routers and firewalls
  • Virtualization (VMWare, HyperV)
  • Supporting and maintaining printers
  • Cyber Security familiarity
  • Cloud technologies (Azure, AWS)

Responsibilities

  • Assist with internal customer support.
