About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) seeks an IT Systems Specialist to serve on the Global Positioning System (GPS) IIF program, within our Space, Intelligence & Weapon Systems (SI&WS) division located at Schriever Space Force Base, about 10 miles east of Colorado Springs. GPS is a satellite-based radio-navigation system owned by the United States government and operated by the United States Space Force. Boeing has over 45 years of history in GPS. The current Boeing team supports the US Space Force by sustaining and monitoring the health and capabilities of the 12 GPS Block IIF satellites in the GPS constellation, launched from 2010 to 2016. The Boeing GPS sustainment team also provides support to our U.S. Space Force customer with reports and expertise on all aspects of the GPS system. Sustainment efforts will continue through the life of the Block IIF satellites, with a design life expectancy to 2031 and beyond. The program currently operates under a 10-year sustainment contract, from 2022 to 2031.

Requirements

  • Active interim or final U.S. security clearance; Secret or above.
  • 3+ years of related experience.
  • Current Security+ (Sec+) certification or other current IAT level II DoD 8140 (previously 8570) Approved Baseline Certification.
  • Data analytics and report automation experience.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 10% domestically.
  • If not within commuting distance of Schriever SFB, willingness and ability to relocate at own expense.
  • U.S. Citizenship Required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing and maintaining scripting and automation tools in secure, offline, classified, or hybrid environments.
  • Experience administering Windows based systems.
  • Database administration, preferably PostgreSQL, experience.
  • Experience administering GitLab platforms.
  • PowerShell experience.
  • Experience integrating hardware, software, and cybersecurity solutions in system environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex system issues.
  • Experience working in classified, on-premises, or virtualized environments.

Responsibilities

  • Support mission-critical systems that enable operations for the GPS IIF satellite constellation and associated ground infrastructure.
  • Work as part of a high-performing team responsible for maintaining the reliability, stability, and security of classified systems supporting the GPS IMOSC operational mission.
  • Integrate and automate hardware, software, and configuration management processes to help ensure system performance, security posture, and mission readiness.
  • Provide technical support and problem resolution for classified environments.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of automation and services that improve system reliability and configuration control.
  • Assist with system monitoring, performance analysis, and the application of data-driven and engineering-based solutions to improve sustainment, resiliency, and cybersecurity compliance.
  • Collaborate across logistics, automation, engineering, and cyber disciplines to support a modernized ecosystem that meets evolving mission and security requirements.
  • Administer and support GitLab Platform usage, including administration, workflow automation, and related integration activities.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve automation, scripting, dashboards, databases, and metrics tools that support system administration, configuration management, reliability, and alerting.
  • Apply data analysis and visualization techniques to produce performance metrics, trend analysis, and on-demand reporting for system reliability and mission support.
  • Perform system hardware integration and system software integration and support cybersecurity implementation across classified and unclassified environments.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement hardware and software changes for enterprise releases while ensuring compliance with cybersecurity and configuration management requirements.
  • Support live mission operations and offline test activities to ensure system functionality, readiness, and conformance to mission requirements.
  • Troubleshoot complex system issues, identify root causes, and implement effective resolution actions to improve system stability and performance.
  • Integrate cybersecurity solutions into system architecture and associated processes to support security compliance and operational resilience.
  • Assist with technical documentation, system records, cybersecurity tasks, and configuration management audits as required.
