About The Position

As part of the Vermont Center for Geographic Information (VCGI) team, this position serves as a technical expert in data visualization and analytics, responsible for transforming complex datasets into interactive dashboards, applications, and clear, intuitive reports. Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will collaborate across multiple state agencies, using strong communication skills to translate technical concepts for diverse stakeholders and design high-profile data products that make critical information accessible and actionable for leadership and the public. This role requires flexibility and a willingness to embrace new technologies, incorporating advanced programming, modern BI platforms, and data science methodologies to build intelligent pipelines and analytical models that optimize state operations over time. A fingerprint-supported background check may be required based on the assigned job duties and location. As of July 12, 2026, the step 1 rate for pay grade 28 will be $37.80 per hour and the step 15 rate will be $59.62 per hour.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science AND three (3) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration.
  • OR Associate's degree in computer science or college-level coursework that includes 15 computer science credits AND five (5) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration.
  • Eight (8) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration.
