About The Position

Looking for an exciting way to spend your summer while gaining real world experience? Join Egan Company as an IT Systems and Support Intern as part of our Information Technology team. Were looking for motivated students searching for an entry-level internship in IT. In our summer internship program, youll work alongside professionals in the industry while also engaging in events just for interns, including a jobsite ride-along, mentorship opportunities, Insights Discovery workshop, and more! Our internship program lasts 12-weeks, with flexible start and end dates to meet the needs of your school and extracurricular schedule. The IT Systems and Support Intern supports Egans Champlin office location and also supports Egans remote work-sites. The IT intern team will take part in an intern-driven project consisting of refreshing a portion of the companys fleet of cell phones. Through this project and daily operations, interns will learn about Egans mobile device management system and gain hands-on experience with everyday systems support and administration tasks, including troubleshooting and resolving issues with Egan's fleet of company devices, such as phones, tablets, laptops, and desktops, as well as virtual desktop infrastructure and thin-client devices. This role contributes to the IT team as part of its Help Desk operations. In addition to day-to-day fixes, this role is involved with planning and implementing long-term initiatives, company-wide technology changes, and system improvements.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a two-year or four-year IT-related degree program, such as systems support, computer networking, cybersecurity, or computer science
  • Must be able to work as an individual contributor and as part of a team
  • Must have excellent verbal communication skills
  • Possess the ability to explain technical issues in non-technical terms
  • Ability to build positive and collaborative relationships with end users and vendors
  • Strong organizational skills to deal with customer needs and competing priorities
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel between offices and jobsites, and possess and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, ChromeOS, Windows, Microsoft Office, Internet, and PC hardware, TCP/IP, and networking is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the completion of the intern-driven project
  • Provide top-notch customer service by visiting jobsites and customer sites regularly
  • Respond to, diagnose, research, and manage incoming help desk requests
  • Support PCs, ChromeOS, VMware, Horizon View Clients, Servers, and Networking
  • Assist with server upgrades and maintenance
  • Participate in network management and monitoring
