About The Position

Minimum Requirement: Must have held a Systems Engineer or Senior Systems Administrator role for a minimum of five (5) years. NPI is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Administrator / Senior Systems Engineer to join our team of automation technology experts. Our engineers design, build, install, and service large-scale automated parcel and mail sorting systems used by some of the world’s largest delivery companies. If you’ve ever ordered a package online, there’s a strong chance it passed through one of our systems. This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, security, integrity, and efficient operation of both internal and client-facing information systems that support core business functions. The Senior Systems Administrator will monitor, maintain, support, and optimize networked software, servers, and operating systems while applying strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills to maximize the value of IT investments. This position may also provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to Systems Support Engineers.

Requirements

  • Must have held a Systems Engineer or Senior Systems Administrator role for a minimum of five (5) years.
  • 5–10 years of experience supporting and managing Windows-based client systems.
  • 5+ years supporting and managing Linux servers (Debian distributions preferred).
  • 5–10 years of experience with SQL development and database management.
  • 5–10 years supporting and managing network infrastructure, including DNS and SonicWall firewall appliances.
  • 5+ years supporting and managing VoIP systems (3Com preferred).
  • 3+ years supporting enterprise backup solutions, including Veritas Backup Exec.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing the design, development, and implementation of enterprise systems and applications.
  • Strong understanding of systems architecture, security principles, and IT best practices.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy, security, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
  • Highly self‑motivated with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical and creative problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation and collaborative mindset.
  • Bachelor’s degree with 5–10 years of Systems Engineering experience, OR Associate degree with 7+ years of related experience, OR 10+ years of equivalent hands‑on experience.
  • MCSA required; MCSE preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Vice President of Engineering/Program Mgmt. and President to ensure reliable and secure operation of systems supporting business objectives.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and stakeholders to define system requirements, goals, and priorities.
  • Identify, assess, and resolve business and systems-related issues proactively.
  • Design, deploy, and enhance applications, operating systems, and infrastructure solutions.
  • Conduct cost‑benefit and ROI analyses to support technology investment decisions.
  • Research and evaluate software, systems, and infrastructure products to support purchasing recommendations.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including negotiations with suppliers, contractors, and service providers.
  • Assess the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and implement improvements where appropriate.
  • Develop system architecture documentation, including diagrams, specifications, and technical models.
  • Perform server, network, and security audits; manage backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
  • Integrate and maintain enterprise systems, including database, email, print, backup, and application servers.
  • Ensure system connectivity and interoperability across servers, applications, and shared resources.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation related to configurations, processes, and service records.
  • Coordinate and execute testing for system changes, upgrades, and new deployments, including end‑user validation.
  • Monitor system performance and produce performance metrics and reports.
  • Provide training and technical orientation to end users for new and modified systems.
  • Deliver day‑to‑day support for Windows client systems for both onsite and remote employees.
