IT Systems Administrator

RuneMountain View, CA
$128,000 - $157,000Onsite

About The Position

Rune is hiring its first dedicated IT hire. You'll own IT end-to-end for the company - starting with the fundamentals (device provisioning and security and the internal software stack) and growing into a broader systems administration role as the team scales. This is a hands-on, high-trust role: we're looking for someone who has lead IT before and knows how to make sound calls independently. As Rune grows, we expect to build the IT team, at which point this role will evolve toward leading and shaping our IT function rather than being the sole point of contact.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of hands-on IT support or systems administration experience
  • Experience owning IT (or a substantial part of it) at a company of similar size, without a senior IT person to lean on - you're comfortable making judgment calls independently
  • Hands-on experience with MDM platforms (Jamf, Kandji, Intune, or similar) and device security (remote wipe, encryption, patching)
  • Experience managing SaaS tools and vendor relationships, including cost oversight
  • Comfortable working across macOS and Windows environments
  • Strong documentation habits and clear communication with colleagues

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SSO/identity platforms (Okta, Google Workspace, Azure AD)
  • Basic scripting/automation (Bash, PowerShell, Python)
  • Prior experience growing an IT function from one person to a small team
  • Interest in eventually leading and mentoring an IT hire

Responsibilities

  • Set up and manage device provisioning for new hires (laptops, accounts, access)
  • Implement mobile device management (MDM) with remote wipe and endpoint security policies
  • Issue and manage company phone numbers/lines
  • Own our SaaS stack: procurement, licensing, access management, and cost oversight
  • Administer identity and access (SSO) across our tools as we adopt it
  • Build out onboarding/offboarding runbooks and self-service documentation
  • Support basic security and compliance needs (access reviews, phishing training, endpoint protection)
  • Help scope and hire a second IT team member, and mentor them once hired
  • Take on broader systems administration as our infrastructure needs grow (network, cloud accounts, internal tooling)

Benefits

  • Competitive base and strategic ownership
