About The Position

The Centers is seeking a skilled and motivated IT Systems Administrator to join their Information Technology team. This is a generalist role for someone who enjoys working across the full spectrum of IT infrastructure, including cloud environments, enterprise networking, telephony, and end-user support. The IT Systems Administrator will serve as a key escalation point for complex technical issues and play a direct role in high-impact projects that strengthen the agency's technology foundation. This role offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully, expand skill sets, and work with modern technologies such as Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, virtualization, firewalls, and multi-layered networking environments.

Requirements

  • A minimum of three years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure support, network administration, or a closely related IT role.
  • Hands-on experience supporting Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory, Group Policy, servers, workstations, firewalls, and wired/wireless networks.
  • A demonstrated ability to identify and automate routine tasks, with experience in scripting or equivalent technical approaches.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts clearly for users at all levels of technical familiarity.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required for travel between agency locations.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA privacy and security requirements is a plus.
  • Familiarity with telephony environments (POTS, PBX, VoIP) is preferred.
  • Technical certifications in Microsoft technologies, networking, cybersecurity, or systems administration are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a hands-on resource for the administration, configuration, and maintenance of physical and virtual servers, workstations, firewalls, and wired and wireless network infrastructure across OSI layers 1–7.
  • Support and maintain agency telephony environments, including POTS, PBX, and VoIP systems.
  • Administer and optimize Azure and Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Maintain Active Directory and Group Policy with a focus on security, standardization, and operational reliability.
  • Partner with the help desk team to resolve complex issues escalated from tier-one support, coordinating with vendors when needed to drive timely resolution.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive processes and develop creative scripting solutions that improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Document system configurations, analyze performance, and maintain clear records that support continuity, compliance, and institutional knowledge.
  • Lead and contribute to new system implementations and enhancements, collaborating across teams to deliver solutions aligned with agency priorities.
  • Establish and maintain standards for the administration and security of all system components, including servers, network devices, user workstations, and peripherals.
