About The Position

The IT Systems Administrator I is responsible for the maintenance of computer hardware, software, and communication devices that comprise the mission network. This normally includes deploying, configuring, maintaining, and monitoring active network equipment. In addition, this position will concentrate on the overall integrity of the network, server deployment, security, and ensure that the network connectivity throughout the UGM’s LAN/WAN, and Wi-Fi infrastructure is on par with technical considerations at the network level and pre-established access controls.

Requirements

  • An associate’s degree in computer science, engineering, or an IT network-related field is required.
  • 5+ years of experience with Microsoft Active Directory
  • 5+ years of experience troubleshooting networks.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in digital communications is highly preferred.
  • CompTIA Network+ or any Microsoft certifications in Windows Server/Client preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up new networks.
  • Maintaining and upgrading existing computer networks, including VPNs and routers
  • Evaluating, monitoring, and maximizing network performance
  • Updating and configuring virus protection software and other programs to keep network secure
  • Troubleshooting errors in software, hardware configuration, communications equipment, and fixing problems
  • Installing and configuring computer systems and network equipment, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs) and communication systems
  • Managing users in VOIP systems and Microsoft 365
  • Communicating updates and problems to end-users
  • Provide training and coordinate implementation of system, policy, and procedures to end-users.
  • Preemptively determining Mission’s software and hardware needs
  • Work with vendors or other departments to analyze network or system problems and resolve related issues.
  • Attend and participate in all Mission, Division and Department meetings and training, as required.
  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
