About The Position

This is a professional level position responsible for providing technical support and assistance to end-users within the City of Buckeye. The IT Support Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining the functionality and efficiency of the City's IT infrastructure. This position involves troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues, installing and configuring computer systems, and educating users on IT best practices. The role requires a strong understanding of IT principles and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in IT support or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting Windows and macOS operating systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and other common business applications.
  • Familiarity with network concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Knowledge of computer hardware components and their functions.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Customer-focused attitude with a commitment to service excellence.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) are a plus.
  • Experience with IT ticketing systems.
  • Familiarity with mobile device support (iOS, Android).
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and assistance to end-users via phone, email, or in person.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, and peripherals.
  • Respond to and track help desk tickets, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Assist with the setup and configuration of new user accounts and workstations.
  • Perform regular system maintenance, including updates and patches.
  • Educate users on IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of IT assets.
  • Document technical procedures and solutions.
  • Collaborate with other IT team members on projects and initiatives.
