About The Position

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Technology Services Division (TSD) is seeking an IT Support Technician 2 for the Northwest Region (NWR) and Urban Mobility and Access Management (UMAM). This is a non-permanent, project-based role focused on supporting IT assets. The position involves routine technical IT tasks related to the onboarding, offboarding, inventory, and disposal of IT assets such as tablets, laptops, printers, servers, network equipment, and software. This role is crucial for supporting high-profile transportation infrastructure projects by ensuring the agency's IT assets are managed effectively.

Requirements

  • Experience in information technology related activities such as testing, installing, maintaining, supporting, and/or averting hardware/software system failures on client applications, hardware and software products, mainframe systems, network infrastructure equipment, or telecommunications software/hardware.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Operating Systems, Microsoft O365, iOS, and standard Adobe products.
  • Experience providing technical consulting and performing installation of IT hardware and software.
  • Experience effectively communicating and providing assistance to a diverse set of information technology peers.
  • Actively demonstrates a commitment to learning and growth.
  • Takes action to meet the needs of others.

Responsibilities

  • Update records for asset onboarding, movement, and disposal.
  • Perform physical unpacking of hardware and entry into the asset management system.
  • Install operating systems and approved software on devices.
  • Prepare assets for surplus property disposal, including sanitization of equipment.
  • Physically visit region locations to discover and verify assets for tracking and documentation.
  • Audit and modify asset records for equipment movement by Field Services technicians.
  • Manage and reconcile the biennial physical inventory of IT hardware for NWR and UMAM Program offices.
  • Provide updates to IT management and assist with final reports.
  • Complete assigned service tickets relating to routine tasks.
  • Diagnose application, hardware, and software issues.
  • Complete routine purchases using agency purchasing card, process, and reconcile transactions.
