IT Support Specialist (40675)

BIG GEYSER INCVillage of Brewster, NY
$55,000 - $60,000Onsite

About The Position

The IT Support Specialist is the first point of contact for day-to-day technology support at Big Geyser. This is an entry-level role — a great fit for someone with zero to three years of experience who is eager to learn and grow in IT. You will provide support to the entire company while serving as the on-site technology resource for our newest facility in Brewster, NY. Day to day, you will help employees with their computers, mobile devices, printers, and everyday software; log and track every issue in our helpdesk ticketing system; document how each was resolved; and keep our local equipment and IT supplies organized and accounted for. You will resolve the common issues yourself and escalate the more complex ones, partnering with our Managed Service Provider and Senior IT to work through them. Success in this role comes down to attitude and aptitude more than a long resume. We are looking for someone with the capacity and genuine curiosity to learn how our various systems work and to pick things up as they go. Reporting to the Vice President of IT, you will grow your skills quickly while keeping Brewster and the wider company running.

Requirements

  • 0–3 years of hands-on IT support or helpdesk experience. Recent graduates, internships, and relevant coursework count — entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • The capacity and curiosity to learn how our various systems work and to pick things up as you go — this matters more here than years on a resume.
  • Foundational familiarity with Windows OS and applications; Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive); iOS and Android devices; and printers/copiers.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in plain language.
  • Organized, methodical, and dependable, with strong written skills to document accurately and thoroughly.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team, and genuinely eager to learn.
  • Associate degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Able to lift at least 40 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to Azure, Active Directory, and Exchange; Mobile Device Management (MDM); VOIP phone systems; and hardware setup/provisioning is a plus — we will help you grow these.
  • Experience with an ERP or warehouse system is a plus; we use VIP and will provide training.
  • Familiarity with Wi-Fi and access-point deployments, inventory controls, warehousing/logistics, basic accounting/finance, or beverage/food distribution are all pluses.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employees’ technology questions, problems, and requests across the company, with a primary focus on the Brewster location.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot everyday issues with desktops, laptops, mobile devices, email, printers, network connectivity, and other peripheral equipment.
  • Partner with our Managed Service Provider (Flexible IT) to troubleshoot and resolve PC and network issues.
  • Work with Senior IT to troubleshoot mobile devices, applications, and broader systems issues, learning from each one as you go.
  • Help users with everyday questions in our ERP system (VIP); handle known fixes and escalate deeper issues to the team. Training provided.
  • Log every issue and request in our helpdesk ticketing system (ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus), track each incident through to resolution, recognize high-priority tickets, and respond within expected timeframes.
  • Document all troubleshooting steps and resolutions clearly so the team builds a reliable, reusable knowledge base.
  • Set up, image, and provision PCs, laptops, mobile devices, and printers; support the Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution and help deploy applications, security, and device policies.
  • Manage local IT assets at Brewster — tag, track, and maintain an accurate hardware and software inventory.
  • Manage IT supplies and consumables (toner, cables, accessories, spare peripherals), monitor stock levels, reorder as needed, and keep the supply area organized.
  • Assist with the procurement and disposal of computers, devices, printers, and other equipment.
  • Collaborate with departments onboarding and offboarding — deploy and collect end-user equipment and accounts — and communicate clearly with all levels of staff.
  • Assist team members with maintenance and upkeep of the network and with IT projects and rollouts.
  • Help create and improve simple procedures and forms that make IT operations run more smoothly.
