About The Position

HOK is seeking a full-time IT Support Specialist to join their Advanced Technology Group in their New York office. This is a 100% in-office role, Monday-Friday, ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work across a broad range of technology, from traditional desktop support to infrastructure and specialized equipment like 3D printers. The role provides Tier 1 technical support and ensures the smooth operation of computer systems and peripheral equipment across the firm.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge in PC components.
  • Intermediate understanding of Microsoft networking protocols.
  • Technical or Associate’s degree or equivalent education/experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in IT support.
  • Experience with electronic helpdesk systems.
  • Familiarity with remote access technologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication on technical matters.

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft and/or Cisco certifications preferred.
  • Exposure to scripting languages and telecommunications systems.

Responsibilities

  • Responding to helpdesk inquiries and resolving software/hardware issues.
  • Monitoring system performance and reporting errors.
  • Setting up and maintaining employee equipment (adds, moves, changes).
  • Performing minor hardware/software repairs and maintaining inventory records.
  • Diagnosing technology issues through manuals and user interaction.
  • Referring major issues to vendors or managers.
  • Training users on hardware/software usage.
  • Recommending system improvements to supervisors.
  • Supporting IP phone systems (Tier 1) and mobile/peripheral devices (Tier 2).
  • Participating in after-hours and weekend helpdesk support.
  • Championing sustainable work practices and fostering a green workplace culture.
