The IT Specialist works independently to provide technology support to all members of the organization. This role involves identifying and procuring hardware and software, installing hardware and peripheral components, providing technical support for voice and phone systems (including Sangoma and Verizon), loading software packages, and administering networks and servers with a focus on security and backup protocols. The specialist will also assist in customizing existing programs, provide telephone, in-person, and online support to end-users, coordinate with network services and information systems groups, and communicate updates to managers and users. Responsibilities include referring major hardware problems to service personnel, connecting users to networks and providing initial training, administering email and anti-virus systems, rotating daily back-up media, coordinating with vendors for technology-related services, and assisting in the procurement of computer accessories and supplies. The position requires strong communication, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining a safe and effective work environment.
