IT Support Engineer (Contractor)- San Francisco

Plaud•San Francisco, CA
•$40 - $50•Onsite

About The Position

We're looking for an IT Support Engineer to provide hands-on IT support to our US employees. You'll own the day-to-day work: solving technical issues, onboarding and offboarding employees, managing hardware, and keeping our offices running smoothly. You'll be part of a global IT team that works across the US and APAC. This role goes beyond working a ticket queue. Our core IT systems are cloud-based platforms for identity, device management, and service delivery, and the whole company depends on them. You'll help administer, improve, and automate them. If you want to grow toward systems administration and help shape how IT scales as we grow, this is the place to do it.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in IT support, help desk, or desktop support
  • Strong troubleshooting skills on both macOS and Windows
  • Experience administering a SaaS productivity suite such as Google Workspace or Microsoft 365
  • Familiarity with a ticketing or ITSM system
  • Clear, friendly communication with people at any technical level
  • Comfortable with ambiguity: able to work on your own, prioritize many requests at once, and follow through
  • Organized and careful with documentation and asset tracking

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on time with an identity provider such as Okta, Entra ID, or JumpCloud
  • Exposure to MDM or endpoint management platforms such as Jamf, Kandji/Iru, or Microsoft Intune
  • Familiarity with zero-touch deployment, such as Apple Business Manager or Windows Autopilot
  • Basic networking knowledge (DNS, DHCP, VLANs, Wi-Fi)
  • Some scripting or automation (Bash, Python, PowerShell)
  • Background at a fast-growing startup or a company with multiple offices
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+/Network+, Apple ACSP, or Okta Certified Professional

Responsibilities

  • Be the first point of contact for IT requests, in person, over chat, and through our service desk
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, accounts, access, networking, and peripherals, and escalate when needed
  • Handle onboarding from start to finish: provisioning accounts, preparing and deploying laptops, granting access, and running the first-day IT orientation
  • Handle offboarding: removing access on time, recovering devices, and transferring data
  • Track hardware inventory, purchasing requests, and the device lifecycle
  • Support conference rooms, AV, printers, and office networks
  • Help administer our identity and access management platform: SSO, MFA, and the user lifecycle
  • Help manage our macOS and Windows device fleet through MDM: enrollment, configuration, app deployment, patching, and compliance
  • Build and refine service desk workflows, automations, and the self-service catalog
  • Write and update knowledge base articles, runbooks, and standard procedures
  • Help standardize IT practices across our offices

Benefits

  • Market-competitive compensation
