About The Position

Sargent Aerospace & Defense is seeking a detail-oriented, proactive, individual to join our growing IT Team. This role is key to supporting and enhancing our manufacturing systems and processes, directly impacting operational efficiency across the organization. The IT Support & Applications Intern provides administrative and technical support to the Information Technology team, with a focus on documentation, software inventory, and configuration management. This role assists with reviewing and documenting existing IT systems and applications, performing basic configuration checks, and supporting audit and compliance readiness efforts. You work closely with the team to help maintain accurate records, improve documentation standards, and ensure systems align with established IT policies and best practices. This position is ideal for a student or early‑career individual seeking hands‑on experience in enterprise IT operations and governance.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems
  • Basic understanding of IT systems, applications, and software environments
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document technical information
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office or similar productivity tools (Word, Excel, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional technical team

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or experience related to IT operations, systems administration, or application support
  • Familiarity with software inventories, application lifecycle management, or license tracking
  • Experience creating or maintaining technical documentation or process guides
  • Ability to analyze information and identify opportunities to streamline or standardize applications
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems, asset management tools, or configuration management concepts
  • Interest in continuous improvement, process optimization, or IT best practices

Responsibilities

  • Perform an audit of existing software applications and tools, including versioning, usage, and licensing
  • Assist in creating/updating/maintaining technical and procedural documentation for systems and applications
  • Help gather and organize application requirements, dependencies, and usage to support standardization efforts
  • Assist with maintaining software and systems to support compliance, security, and operational visibility
  • Collaborate with peers to understand how applications are used and where improvements or simplifications may be possible
