About The Position

The IT Applications Intern supports the IT Business Applications team by assisting with documentation, data and reporting tasks, application support, and process improvement initiatives across enterprise systems and integrated third‑party applications. This internship provides hands‑on experience working in a manufacturing/business operations environment and exposure to core enterprise platforms (ERP, integrated applications, reporting/analytics, and integration workflows). The intern will work under the guidance of IT Business Applications leadership and team members to complete structured projects that improve operational efficiency, strengthen end‑user enablement, and increase the reliability and transparency of IT application processes.

  • Comfortable working with spreadsheets and basic data manipulation; able to validate and document data findings.

  • Basic understanding (or strong interest) in business systems such as ERP, integrated applications, reporting/analytics, and data flows.
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data/Analytics, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Preferred coursework or exposure to one or more: databases/SQL, programming fundamentals, business process analysis, data visualization, or systems integration concepts.
  • Ability to work in a professional office environment and follow confidentiality expectations.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); ability to produce clear written documentation.
  • Ability to work on-site as required and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic familiarity with SQL and/or a scripting language (e.g., Python) for simple data tasks.
  • Interest in enterprise applications (ERP), analytics/reporting, and integration/automation concepts

Responsibilities

  • Application Support & Process Enablement Assist with day‑to‑day administrative and support tasks for enterprise applications and connected third‑party systems under supervision.
  • Help document business processes and application workflows, including step‑by-step user instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Support user enablement efforts by improving training materials and maintaining internal help documentation.
  • Documentation & Knowledgebase Development Create and maintain an IT Applications wiki/knowledgebase for system usage, common issues, troubleshooting steps, and “how‑to” guides.
  • Assist in developing and organizing a training plan and onboarding documentation for new users, including role-based training guides and reference materials.
  • Reporting, Data & Analytics Support Assist with rebuilding, validating, or enhancing operational reports and dashboards using approved reporting tools and data sources.
  • Help verify data accuracy by performing basic reconciliation checks and documenting assumptions, definitions, and KPI logic.
  • Support a dashboard/report inventory, including owners, refresh frequency, data sources, and usage notes.
  • Integration & Automation Support (Supervised) Assist with integration-related analysis and documentation (e.g., mapping fields, documenting interfaces, validating payloads/outputs).
  • Support small, supervised automation efforts (e.g., recreating an API call as a dataflow, building a simple tracker/report, or documenting integration status checks).
  • Help identify opportunities to reduce manual work through standardized forms, repeatable templates, or workflow improvements.
  • Application Portfolio & License Tracking Help build and maintain a catalog of applications used across the organization, including basic integration notes, licensing counts (where available), owners, and renewal/contract metadata.
  • Assist with organizing diagrams of system-to-system relationships and data flows.
  • Responsible Use of AI-Enabled Tools (If Applicable) Use AI-enabled productivity tools, if authorized, to improve documentation quality, summarize technical notes, and accelerate repeatable tasks—while following company guidelines for confidentiality, accuracy review, and appropriate use.
  • Project Participation & Professional Development Accept assigned projects, research options, propose ideas/solutions, and present outcomes to the team at the conclusion of the internship.
  • Demonstrate teamwork by cooperating with department members, sharing information, and supporting team priorities as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned by TAS.
