About The Position

Under limited supervision and direction of the IT Manager - ESDT Division, manages teams performing major IT functions; establishes procedures, guidelines and standards; monitors budgets; performs related work as assigned. This position will be responsible for mentoring and guiding systems engineers with advanced problem resolution skills who are responsible for planning, design, development, optimization, documentation, maintenance, and performance of the State’s IT environments.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, mathematics, engineering or other related field and two years of experience in a related information technology discipline (network infrastructure, coding, systems or database).
  • Experience can be substituted for education on a year for year basis, one year of which as a project coordinator, leader, or supervisor.
  • Extensive knowledge of information technology theory, principles, and practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer hardware and software.
  • General knowledge of local and wide area network systems.
  • Knowledge of client/server network protocols and Internet/Intranet applications.
  • Skill in delivering responsive, quality customer service.
  • Ability to write clear and concise documentation of systems and procedures.
  • Ability to successfully apply information engineering techniques; ability to design a data centered information system; ability to effectively design and use relational databases; ability to effectively test and debug systems and programs.
  • Ability to accurately estimate time and cost requirements in project development and implementation.
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply information from technical manuals.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and meet schedules and time lines for assigned work.
  • Regular and reliable attendance required.

Nice To Haves

  • A working knowledge of cloud infrastructure (Azure/AWS, etc.), cloud server environments, email, and cloud application management including Sharepoint and PowerBI.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support at a supervisor level for our IT environments in the cloud.
  • Act as a technical liaison between upper management and subordinate teammates and offer support to our clients.
  • Develop and maintain procedures and processes.
  • Create documentation.
  • Assist clients and other information technology employees.
  • Supervise one or more IT teams at the full performance analyst or developer equivalent level or higher and that are above the technician level.
  • Perform personnel functions, including hiring, performance evaluation and disciplinary procedures.
  • Develop and maintain sufficient staff, properly trained and with the right combination of technical skills.
  • Other duties as assigned and within the scope of the classification.
