About The Position

This position is for an IT Sr Network Engineer with expert-level support responsibilities for firewall configuration and maintenance, and extensive experience with Cisco networking equipment. The role requires expert skills in configuration, installation, troubleshooting, and supporting Cisco Networking equipment (Routers, Nexus and access switches), Wireless Controllers and Access Points, Computers, Servers, and peripherals. A deep understanding of 802.1q VLANs and industry best practices is essential. The engineer will also be responsible for working knowledge of Security policies and principles with implementation experience, building and maintaining fiber optic networks, and maintaining an enterprise-level infrastructure. Key responsibilities include implementing network traffic analysis, remote access methods and systems, stateful inspection firewalls, encryption, authentication, and authorization technology. Hands-on technical experience with VPN technologies (IPSEC, SSL VPN, WebVPN, AnyConnect, DMVPN, etc.) is required. This position has responsibility for a component of IT security for their functional area. The role also involves responding to network administration, operations, and maintenance problems while off duty, on an on-call basis. Understanding of 802.11G/N in both 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies, the ability to engineer, build, and test networks for optimum reliability, and a general understanding of VoIP equipment and operation, and POE technologies are also required. The engineer must be able to work with a VoIP provider to deploy and support. Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols (SSL/TLS, DNS, DHCP, WINS, NTP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, CIFS, LDAP, and Microsoft AD) is necessary, along with an understanding of how to support these applications/protocols when accessed through VPN and firewall appliances. Configuring network services using open-source technologies on Linux servers, documenting and explaining network topologies, and understanding and diagramming existing networks and future upgrades are also part of the role. An understanding of VMware Enterprise administration is beneficial. The ideal candidate will possess strong oral, written, communication, and presentation skills, and the ability to quickly learn new technologies independently.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree is required: preferably in Information Technology or computer science
Eight plus years’ work experience in information technology field: preferably in network field
Outstanding Knowledge of Core Networking functions (Routing, Switching, OSI Model)
Must have and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license and maintain a driving record that complies with the Underwriting guides for the Mutual Insurance Company
Extensive knowledge of the Operating System used on desktops and laptops is required
Advanced skill in the Microsoft Office Suite of applications in required, including Visio

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree may substitute for some work experience
Cisco CCNA, CCNA Security and/or CCNP (preferred)

Responsibilities
