Requirements

  • Considerable knowledge of appropriate computer programming languages and techniques.
  • Considerable knowledge of operation, characteristics, and capabilities of computer hardware and peripherals, storage devices, desktop and enterprise software, mobile device management, and imaging.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong customer service skills including analytics and communication.
  • Awareness of budgetary and planning techniques and procedures.
  • Ability to convert user specifications into a successful data processing application.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to evaluate system performance.
  • Ability to evaluate and estimate system development costs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work under pressure from deadlines.
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science AND two (2) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration OR Associate’s degree in computer science or college-level coursework that includes 15 computer science credits AND four (4) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration OR Six (6) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration.

Responsibilities

  • Performing advanced diagnosis and troubleshooting of computer hardware and software issues.
  • Providing instruction and guidance of global issues to end users.
  • Providing vendor management and working with vendors to find resolutions to complex issues.
  • Managing contract and IT procurement functions for agency-wide departments and programs.
  • Ensuring compliance with, and adhering to, change management process.
  • Reviewing and recommending computer lifecycle purchases and executing annual plan/schedule for computer deployments.
  • Member of IT steering committees.
  • Assisting with major project’s research, scope definition, design, and implementation.
  • Collaborating with other IT unit leaders to establish optimal solutions.
  • May supervise staff, assign work, review tasks, and ensure effective resolution of issues.
  • Performing related duties as required.
