About The Position

The IT Sourcing Manager / Category Manager supports the development and execution of sourcing strategies across key technology spend categories, including software, cloud services, cybersecurity, SaaS platforms, telecom, and hardware. This role focuses on driving cost efficiency, supporting supplier selection, managing sourcing events, and ensuring contract compliance, while partnering with cross-functional stakeholders across IT, Finance, Legal, and Vendor Management. The position requires strong analytical skills, foundational negotiation capability, and the ability to manage sourcing initiatives end-to-end under the guidance of senior leaders.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of key IT domains such as cloud (AWS/Azure), SaaS, cybersecurity, networking, and enterprise software.
  • Basic understanding of subscription models, licensing structures, and cloud consumption pricing.
  • Ability to interpret technical requirements and align them with commercial solutions.
  • Experience with standard sourcing methodologies and procurement processes.
  • Strong analytical skills, including spend analysis and supplier comparison.
  • Developing negotiation skills with the ability to achieve cost savings and favorable terms.
  • Experience supporting contracts in the $100K–$1M range (or similar).
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; able to manage multiple sourcing events concurrently.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and influence outcomes at the working-team level.
  • Experience with procurement and sourcing tools such as: Zip, Oracle Procurement, Globality, SpendHQ, Ironclad (or other CLM systems).
  • 3–7 years of experience in IT sourcing, procurement, vendor management, or category support.
  • Experience running sourcing events and managing supplier interactions.
  • Track record of delivering measurable cost savings or process improvements.
  • Exposure to enterprise or global procurement environments preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, IT, or related field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support development and execution of category strategies for technology spend areas (software, cloud, infrastructure, telecom, and services).
  • Conduct market research and benchmarking on pricing, licensing models, and supplier offerings.
  • Assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities, supplier consolidation, and demand management initiatives.
  • Maintain category data, supplier insights, and spend analytics to inform sourcing decisions.
  • Align sourcing activities with IT roadmaps and budget cycles.
  • Execute sourcing events including RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, supplier evaluations, and bid analysis.
  • Support contract negotiations for commercial terms, pricing, SLAs, and licensing structures.
  • Deliver cost savings and value through competitive sourcing and negotiation activities.
  • Manage mid-sized deals and renewals (e.g., SaaS subscriptions, software licenses, infrastructure agreements).
  • Coordinate supplier communications and ensure timely completion of sourcing initiatives.
  • Support the contract lifecycle process, including drafting, redlining, and approvals in partnership with Legal.
  • Ensure contracts meet internal compliance, data privacy, and security requirements.
  • Track key contract terms such as renewal dates, pricing adjustments, and usage commitments.
  • Identify and escalate risk areas such as auto-renewals, price increases, and unfavorable terms.
  • Partner with IT stakeholders (Infrastructure, Security, Engineering, Architecture) to understand business requirements.
  • Translate technical requirements into sourcing specifications and evaluation criteria.
  • Provide regular updates on sourcing activities, timelines, and savings outcomes.
  • Support stakeholder alignment and facilitate decision-making throughout the sourcing process.
