About The Position

Care Initiatives is seeking an IT Senior Security Analyst to join our IT team. As the largest single operator of quality nursing homes in Iowa, Care Initiatives has over forty (40) skilled nursing communities, eight (8) hospice offices (and growing!), plus our own internal staffing agency. We are committed to providing exceptional care and support at every stage of the healthcare journey. The IT Senior Security Analyst will be responsible for leading and executing day‑to‑day cybersecurity operations, security monitoring, incident response, and security engineering activities across the organization.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in information security or cybersecurity operations
  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, information security, or other related field.
  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Entra ID, and Microsoft Purview
  • Experience working in regulated environments (healthcare preferred)
  • Cybersecurity operations and day-to-day security monitoring
  • Strong operational knowledge of Microsoft-centric environments, including: Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Microsoft operating systems and software platforms, Security frameworks and best practices (NIST, CIS, Zero Trust concepts)

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, analyze, and respond to security alerts from MDR, EDR, email security, and cloud security platforms.
  • Investigate security incidents, perform root cause analysis, lead containment, eradication, and recovery efforts.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex or high-risk security events.
  • Maintain incident response documentation, playbooks, and after-action reports.
  • Monitor emerging AI threat trends and adjust detection and defense strategies accordingly.
  • Perform ongoing vulnerability management activities, including scanning, analysis, prioritization, and remediation tracking.
  • Evaluate emerging threats and vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Partner with infrastructure, applications, and endpoint teams to remediate identified risks.
  • Design, implement, and maintain technical security controls across premises and cloud environments.
  • Support and enhance identity, access, and authentication controls, including privileged access and conditional access.
  • Assist with secure configuration standards and baseline enforcement.
  • Support regulatory, audit, and compliance activities (e.g., HIPAA, privacy, internal audits) by providing evidence and technical input.
  • Participate in risk assessments, third party security reviews, and security control evaluations.
  • Assist with development, maintenance, and enforcement of security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Assess and manage security risks associated with AI systems, models, agents, and integrations, including internally developed and third‑party AI solutions.
  • Map AI security controls to enterprise security frameworks (e.g., NIST, MITRE, OWASP Top 10 for LLMs) and regulatory requirements relevant to the organization.
  • Support and enforce AI governance policies, standards, and secure usage guidelines across the organization.
  • Work closely with IT, Compliance, Legal, HR, and operational teams to ensure security requirements are understood and implemented.
  • Provide security guidance during system implementations and changes.
  • Assist with security awareness initiatives and promote a strong security culture across the organization.
