Position Overview Provides functional analysis and recommendations with the planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of network infrastructure hardware and software. Configures and maintains network routers, switches, data center equipment, wireless infrastructure, security appliances. Prepares site administration documentation to maintain security and integrity standards and controls. Evaluates and tests hardware, software and network configurations for use within the business environment. Assists with rollouts and maintenance of Cisco VoIP solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and/or Computer Science is preferred.
  • 6 years of experience in support and maintenance of network equipment and distribution systems.
  • Demonstrated project experience in a large, distributed, multi-department company.
  • Certifications: Cisco CCNA or equivalent required, additional certifications preferred
  • Expert knowledge with TCP/IP networking protocols, SNMP, SMTP, FTP, BGP/EIGRP
  • Expert knowledge with Cisco routers, switches and wireless infrastructure, and operating systems Cisco IOS, Nexus OS.
  • Solid Knowledge of Cisco ACS/ISE for tacacs radius authentication
  • Solid knowledge of Meraki SDWAN and Wireless
  • Solid knowledge with and use of protocol analyzers and copper/fiber testing
  • Solid knowledge of the principles of estimating time and cost of production equipment and processes to assist in preparing project proposals
  • Solid knowledge with systems integration and network design experience of large networks
  • Solid ability to maintain network security through proper configuration of Palo Alto VPN and Firewalls
  • Solid knowledge with voice signaling protocols such as H.323, G711, G723 and G729, SIP and PSTN gateways

Responsibilities

  • Ensure maintenance and adherence of enterprise network design and security standards
  • Maintain a solid knowledge of all network infrastructure equipment
  • Configure, maintain, and implement Cisco network infrastructure equipment (routers, switches, wireless, and phones), Palo Alto Firewalls, VPN tunnels and Security appliances for access to vital business applications
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of Cisco OS and Nexus NX operating systems
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the Internet, LAN, and WAN (MPLS, DNS, Security, IP Routing, BGP/EIGRP protocols, VPN, SMTP, SNMP, DHCP)
  • Lead team with design, setup and configuration of complex routing and switching environments
  • Assist in design, setup and configure complex wireless networking that supports open or secured access and the ability to support voice and video applications
  • Assist in the design and implementation of multi-server environments including IP address schemes, DNS, Port-channeling, and DHCP
  • Maintaining multi-site network operations and software applications, operating systems and regular maintenance with both private and public facilities
  • Managing assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives.
  • Initiates and follows through with Team Members in preparing written documentation of work activities related to installations, upgrades and designs made to hardware systems and software.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions of network hardware and software applications, telephones and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services. Actively engage in pro-active problem solving to identify cause and effect relationships and develop resolution alternatives.
  • Interacts with service providers, ITOS, and customer base through a combination of ticket, email, and telephone interaction
  • Participate in and contribute to the long-range planning process of the network to meet the overall needs of the business organization and end-users
  • Works with local and remote IT personnel on circuit installations, hardware & software upgrades, and new equipment installs
  • Successfully implement enterprise hardware and software in order to provide service to the business.
  • Project implementations, completes assigned tasks resulting in successful, and on-time projects.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Participates in the strategic planning process and performs technology reviews of existing network & telecom hardware and software to meet business needs.
