About The Position

Reporting to the Director of IT Security, the IT Security Analyst operates and monitors the systems that support institutional Information Security objectives. In addition, the analyst will configure system alerting, develop automation and document IT security team processes. The analyst will work directly with end users to ensure protection of college systems and data. This position has been approved for a flexible work option arrangement. Flexible work options can be ended at any time by the College, Cabinet, and/or supervisors based on employee performance and/or as institutional needs change. All employees of Montgomery County Community College must reside in PA, NJ, or DE.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Information Technology or related field required.
  • 2 years of directly relevant experience managing computer networks and/or computer security in a professional setting preferred.
  • Understanding of networking, firewalls, security operations and monitoring.
  • Knowledge of endpoint and network security issues.
  • Experience with Linux, Windows or macOS
  • Proficiency in scripting (PowerShell, Python, etc.).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
  • Required to be on-call to respond to technical emergencies that disrupt system availability.
  • Requires work during non-business hours, evenings, and weekends to apply system updates and patches.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and tact in all interpersonal contacts, and to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks according to required deadlines.
  • Maintain composure under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to be optimistic, positive, and supportive in interactions with others.

Nice To Haves

  • Approved industry Security Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor information security technology systems.
  • Through collaboration and training, ensure that information security tools used by end-users achieve the desired outcomes.
  • Develop and document scripts, tools, and procedures to automate system configuration, operation, and monitoring activities.
  • Participate in the implementation of projects that include information security technical systems.
  • Perform activities to verify the security of third-party vendors.
  • Identify, collect, analyze, interpret and assist in the reporting of security metrics.
  • Support stated IT security goals through the proactive research of industry trends, participation in security and technology associations, and achievement of professional certification.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
