About The Position

The P ET DESKTOP SERVICES Department of the P INFO TECHNOLOGY & SVCS Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Management vacancy available. This role is classified as Professional. The IT Security Administrator develops, administers, and maintains security policies, system policies, backup processes, batch jobs, and Identity and Access Management (IAM). This position also monitors scheduled tasks, IAM alerts and alarms, and collaborates closely with NOSC on cyber defense and system monitoring.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies.
  • Knowledge of measures or indicators of system performance and availability.
  • Knowledge of system performance tuning tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for integrating system components.
  • Knowledge of risk management processes (e.g., methods for assessing and mitigating risk).
  • Knowledge of systems administration concepts.
  • Knowledge of server and client operating systems.
  • Knowledge of basic system administration, network, and operating system hardening techniques.
  • Proficiency in operating system command line/prompt.
  • Knowledge of system/server diagnostic tools and fault identification techniques.
  • Knowledge of file system implementations (e.g., New Technology File System [NTFS], File Allocation Table [FAT], File Extension [EXT]).
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies and virtual machine development and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of organizational information technology (IT) user security policies (e.g., account creation, password rules, access control).
  • Knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP, Dynamic Host Configuration, Domain Name System (DNS), and directory services.
  • Knowledge of the type and frequency of routine maintenance needed to keep equipment functioning properly.
  • Knowledge of enterprise information technology (IT) architecture.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering theories, concepts, and methods.
  • Knowledge of Virtual Private Network (VPN) security client configurations.
  • Knowledge of local area and wide area networking principles and concepts including bandwidth management.
  • Knowledge of information technology (IT) security principles and methods (e.g., firewalls, demilitarized zones, encryption).
  • Knowledge of specific operational impacts of cybersecurity lapses.
  • Knowledge of cyber threats and vulnerabilities and cybersecurity principles.
  • Knowledge of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) data security standards and concepts.
  • Knowledge of network security architecture concepts including topology, protocols, components, and principles (e.g., application of defense-in-depth).
  • Operating system administration.
  • Correcting physical and technical problems that impact system/server performance.
  • Recovering failed systems/servers.
  • Maintaining directory services.
  • Troubleshooting failed system components (i.e., servers).
  • Diagnosing connectivity problems.
  • Optimizing software.
  • System/server maintenance.
  • Configuring and utilizing software-based computer protection tools (e.g., software firewalls, anti-virus software, anti-spyware).
  • Interacting with and helping customers.
  • Collaborating with teammates and other employees.
  • Communicating effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Few years (1-3) of AIM security experience.
  • Few years (1-3) of system recovery experience.
  • One or more of the following Certifications: A+ CE, CCNA-Security, CND, Network+ CE, SSCP, CCNA Security, CySA+ (CSA+), GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP (Other certification will be considered).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and document systems administration standard operating procedures.
  • Comply with organization systems administration standard operating procedures.
  • Implement and enforce usage policies and procedures.
  • Design group policies and access control lists to ensure compatibility with organizational standards, business rules, and needs.
  • Manage accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment.
  • Manage system/server resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability.
  • Maintain baseline system security according to organizational policies.
  • Monitor and maintain system/server configurations.
  • Perform repairs on faulty system/server hardware.
  • Plan, execute, and verify data redundancy and system recovery procedures.
  • Troubleshoot hardware/software interface and interoperability problems.
  • Check system hardware availability, functionality, integrity, and efficiency.
  • Conduct periodic system maintenance including cleaning (electronically), disk checks, routine reboots, data dumps, and testing.
  • Diagnose faulty system/server hardware.
  • Provide ongoing optimization and problem-solving support.
  • Conduct functional and connectivity testing to ensure continuing operability.
  • Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response.
