About The Position

The Arizona Game and Fish Department is seeking a dynamic IT Project Manager to lead key technology initiatives. This role is crucial for driving progress on essential IT projects across the Department, including infrastructure upgrades, network deployments, and software applications. The IT Project Manager will collaborate with internal teams, leadership, and external partners to manage timelines, budgets, risks, and technical documentation, ensuring the successful delivery of technical solutions that support the conservation and management of Arizona’s wildlife heritage. This position offers the potential for remote work within Arizona, based on business needs and performance, with a requirement to be in the office a minimum of three days per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in a technology-related field)
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience managing projects, preferably in the IT Field.
  • Position requires possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment.
  • Knowledge in theoretical and practical aspects of project management.
  • General knowledge of software development life cycle methodologies.
  • Basic understanding of Agile concepts including Lean Management.
  • Proficient in the use of project management process and tools.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Skills in solving conflicts.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant experience managing multiple small-medium size projects, preferably in the IT Field.
  • Experience working with Agile, Scrum, or hybrid project management frameworks within an IT environment.
  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop project scopes, schedules, and resource plans.
  • Coordinate internal and external teams (e.g., developers, infrastructure, vendors).
  • Lead daily standups, sprint planning.
  • Maintain documentation in tools like Asana.
  • Serve as primary contact for business units and technical leads.
  • Run project status meetings and report to leadership.
  • Manage expectations, scope changes, and approvals.
  • Identify risks and create mitigation plans.
  • Conduct lessons learned, post-implementation reviews.
  • Monitor project deliverables for quality and alignment with business needs.
  • Document exceptions and escalate issues as needed.
  • Work with procurement for quotes, contracts, and purchase orders.
  • Track project budgets, invoices, and expenditures.
  • Ensure compliance with state IT standards, ADA, and security policies.
  • Other duties as assigned as related to the position.
