About The Position

This position serves as an IT Project Manager within the Program Management Office in the Department of Innovation and Technology. This position is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of multiple small-to large-technology projects supporting City departments. Projects may include software implementations, cybersecurity initiatives, network and infrastructure advancements, and other enterprise technology efforts. Working closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, vendors, and contractors, this position leads project planning, business analysis, requirements gathering, implementation, and delivery activities from initial purchase to project closure. Responsibilities include facilitating meetings, developing project plans, managing schedules and budgets, gathering business and technical requirements, coordinating project teams, stakeholder communication, preparing project documentation and status reports, and ensuring successful project delivery. This position will work alongside other project managers in the Program Management Office (PMO) and have an assigned Senior Project Manager as a mentor.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Considerable (3 - 5 years) experience in Information Technology project management of small-scale systems or services.
  • Must pass a background investigation through the City of Mesa Police Department, the Arizona Department of Public Safety, and Federal Bureau of Investigation prior to commencing employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in budgeting functions.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project.
  • Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP).
