About The Position

Under direction, plan, coordinate, and manage one or more projects that may impact a division or department throughout the project's lifecycle and implementation. This includes planning, organizing, managing, and directing information technology project development, submitting proposals, budgets, scopes, and schedules. The role initiates projects, performs analysis of end-user and stakeholder business needs, feasibility, project definition, and project authorization. It also involves participating in discussions of project management department goals and objectives with IT senior management, system owners, and decision-makers, defining and disseminating project success criteria, and facilitating project management and project status review meetings. The position ensures adherence to product or project budgets, assists in developing and maintaining plans, processes, and systems for risk mitigation, documents findings, and ensures adherence to Department of Information Technology standards, policies, and procedures. Additionally, the role involves supervising assigned personnel, including scheduling, assigning, instructing, guiding, checking work, providing training and development, enforcing personnel rules, counseling, motivating, maintaining harmony, and interviewing applicants for hiring recommendations. Miscellaneous duties include conducting research and providing reports related to project implementation.

Requirements

  • MOS Code: 25B (Army), 62E1G (Air Force), 62E3G (Air Force), 62EXG (Air Force), 8848 (Marine Corps)
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field and four (4) years of experience in project management of systems or services; OR an Associate's Degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field and eight (8) years of experience in project management of systems or services.
  • Valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License or equivalent from another state by the time of appointment.
  • Must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check within the first six months of hire and maintain CJIS eligibility.
  • Experience in project management of systems or services.

Nice To Haves

  • Applicants with a foreign degree must have all documents translated and evaluated by an agency of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) prior to submitting them to the Human Resources Department.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to Department of Information Technology standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Supervise assigned personnel, including scheduling, assigning, instructing, guiding, and checking work.
  • Provide for training and development of assigned personnel.
  • Enforce personnel rules and regulations and work behavior standards firmly and impartially.
  • Counsel, motivate, and maintain harmony among assigned personnel.
  • Interview applicants and recommend hiring, termination, transfers, discipline, or other employee status changes.
  • Conduct, compile, and summarize research, and provide oral and written reports related to project implementation.
