About The Position

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) is seeking an IT Project Manager to join its innovative technology team. DOHMH utilizes the latest technologies and enterprise-wide application solutions to promote and protect New Yorkers' health and improve its business operations. The Bureau of Technology Strategy and Project Management is responsible for defining and delivering IT solutions that meet business needs, managing the IT governance process, leading technology contracting and procurement, implementing products, and providing product support. The Bureau uses a team-based approach where each agency Division is assigned a dedicated group of managers led by a Solution Director, responsible for delivering IT projects aligned with Divisional strategic goals and the agency's public health mission. The Bureau also houses a Quality Assurance Team. As an IT Project Manager, you will oversee the planning, execution, and successful delivery of various IT projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure projects meet scope, budget, and timeline goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing complex IT projects, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of successful project delivery.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain.
  • An associate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and six years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain.
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain.
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to the above.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the full project lifecycle, including project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, controlling, and closure.
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Coordinate and allocate resources, including team members, equipment, and materials, to ensure successful project execution.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and issues, and develop contingency plans as needed.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among project stakeholders, ensuring alignment on project objectives and expectations.
  • Monitor and track project progress, ensuring adherence to timelines and budget.
  • Conduct regular project status meetings and provide timely updates to stakeholders.
  • Manage and resolve conflicts, obstacles, and challenges that may arise during project execution.
  • Ensure quality control measures are in place to deliver high-quality project outcomes.
  • Conduct project evaluations and post-implementation reviews to identify areas for improvement and lessons learned.
